Born & raised in the mountains & foothills in the Sierra Nevada, I was naturally immersed in the plant world growing up, from the ancient presence of giant sequoias, the tenacious plants that sprung from dramatic heights of granite rock faces, to the freewheeling spirit of the wildflowers of the Sierra. SEMILLA was born as a project harkening back to my origin, the SEED of what drew me into the practice of herbal medicine and the growing process of learning to use the plants that grew around me to cure everyday ailments.
I focus primarily on the use of native West Coast species, integrated with my studies in clinical Chinese herbalism with tried & true synergistic formulas that have been used for clinical therapeutic effects for thousands of years.
I make products according to the seasons, taking great care to watch the plants throughout their growing cycle, harvesting them ethically at their optimal point of medicine.
From the wisdom & care of the great teachers and plant-folk of the California School of Herbal Studies, my education also includes a BA in Cultural Anthropology from UC Berkeley, with a few home-kitchen style herbal internships in West Sonoma County. In participation with global continuity in a shifting and integrative healthcare paradigm, I am also currently enrolled in a four-year MAcOM masters program in Traditional Chinese Herbalism and Acupuncture in the misty Pacific Northwest.
Thank you for supporting SEMILLA , & Happy romping out there.
